It’s been a while since the last post, and since that last post, Kai has grown a lot. A LOT!

Kai has always loved music, but one thing distinct about Kai’s personality these days, is his appreciation for vinyl records – LPs, 45s, 12″, 10″, you name it, he’ll listen to it. In fact, if there was a bigger advocate for this durable, long-standing music format – it would be Kai.

He loves the physicality of records. He watches them spin, and when the needle drops on the record’s surface, he KNOWS that it’ll produce sound. In fact, we’ve caught him a few times, where Lisa and I are listening to a CD in the living room, and he’ll walk up to the stereo, stand on his tippy toes to look, and wonder why there’s music playing but yet the turnable isn’t spinning. If I put on a record, he’ll ask me to pick him up so he can look to see what’s playing. Even better – he’ll point to the turntable demanding to hear some music.

Another aspect of vinyl records that Kai finds intriguing are LP covers. He’s especially fascinated by the back cover of A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders. He stares at the faces of hip hop legendaries and finds some of their expressions funny.
